Charter Lunch
Our guest speaker was Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Taylor of the Gurkha Welfare Trust, who gave a very enlightening talk on the history of the gurkhas, and the plight so many find themselves in as they get old.
The problems have been exacerbated by allowing the younger retirees to stay in the UK, so the trust is now building retirement homes for the elderly left in Nepal.
We have always supported the Gurkha Trust, but this year we raised funds specifically for them, and President Hazel presented Colonel Taylor with a cheque for £300
We celebrated our Charter Lunch in style, with President Hazel welcoming many visitors from other clubs in the District, and members of our own Rotary Club.
We all enjoyed a slice of our special 33rd birthday cake with our coffee.
